While the film has few surprises or scares for people familiar with the genre, the movie works due to the its brave characters and its quick pace. Sure, she gets scared but she isn't just walking around in the woods waiting to be rescued. Nobody runs forever do they? Dushku's character is much the same. He says little but isn't afraid of much and is always willing to make a stand. Harrington's character, is instead, more like an action star of the 80's. What's unusual about WRONG TURN is that two of the characters, the one's played by Desmond Harrington (GHOST SHIP) and the beautiful Eliza Dushku (SOUL SURVIVORS), are not your usual helpless horror movie victims. The film starts off with six teens stranded in the middle of the mountains of West Virginia but the number of teen's decreases quickly within the first fifteen minutes or so, with the most annoying two getting snubbed out first. As long as you take the film at face value you should have a good time. WRONG TURN doesn't desire to be much more than frightful, fun entertainment. Gore: A brutal barb wire strangling scene, a head chopped in half with an axe, multiple gory arrow shots, a severed ear, severed limbs and more! It was an all out gore-fest!īottom Line: The story/plot/theme has been done to death by now but it's nice to see at least a scary one once in a while and Wrong Turn delivers! PG-13 was all the rage and R had tame violence/gore. The film wasn't bad but it wasn't great either but it was scary! This is one of the very first mutant killer people movies made in the 2000's and the appearance and the way the psychopaths act was genuinely frightening in a lot of ways and somewhat goofy in other parts! But the reason they crashed was because the car filled with the five humans had its tire popped by barb wire that some random person (or should I say three random cannibalistic mutant hillbillies) left there. Two of them stay behind while the other four go out to find help within the West Virginian woods. Plot: A group of six innocent people get mixed up after one of the civilian's cars crash into the other car filled with the five other humans. overall it is scary mixed with thrills unimaginable through the eyes of a fourteen year old but if you are eighteen (which I am) or older you start to see the good and the bad aspects about this movie along with others! A delightfully creepy and menacingly disturbing slasher flick.
